Jam can be a tough one to buy smart sometimes. Generally the jam you find at grocery stores or even homemade jam recipes contains tons of sugar and little nutrients so really the only point you are spreading them on your toast is just for flavor and empty calories. Fortunately there are superfood jams out there that contain cane sugar for sweetener and chia seeds instead of pectin so they actually can fill you up. The best way to ensure your jam is pure and will deliver you with the most benefits is to make it at home! This recipe is super quick and easy plus it tastes amazing on toast or oatmeal with a little almond butter… Yum.

Raspberry Chia Jam:
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/2 cup water
1 tsp maple syrup
1 cup raspberries

In a small mason jar add the chia seeds, water and maple syrup and stir. Allow the chia seeds to absorb some water while in a separate bowl you mash the raspberries with a fork until no whole pieces remain. Using a fork stir the chia mixture to remove any clumps and add in the raspberries. Stir the mixture with a fork until no chia seed clumps remain and everything is evenly distributed. Seal the mason jar and place in the fridge overnight. In the morning you will have a ready to use delicious spread for your toast or topping for your oatmeal!
