Many people think that lettuce is nothing and it is just like the equivalent of drinking water. That is partly true when you look at lettuce from a calorie perspective but if you look at lettuce from a nutrition point of view it is actually incredibly high in many nutrients. I particularly use romaine lettuce due to its nutrient profile and taste. Lettuce is very high in vitamin A, K and potassium. Also due to its high water content it is also very cleansing and good for your liver. This smoothie is a great thing to drink after an indulgent meal or if you feel that your body needs a little reset.
Apple Romaine Smoothie:
1/2 head romaine lettuce shredded
1 small apple peeled and roughly chopped
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 scoop Vega One Protein Powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup coconut water
1/2 cup water
Blend all ingredients together until no clumps remain and enjoy!
